Families Find Free Meals

Find where local food pick up sites are located by texting the below numbers. After entering your home address, you will receive a text with locations and serving times for nearby pick-up and drive-thru free meal site.

Anyone with non-emergency questions about COVID-19 can call 2-1-1 or 888-892-1162 to ask about food assistance and family resources, such as rent or utility assistance. Dialing is free, confidential and available in most languages.

End Hunger Durham is an action circle of Durham Farm Food Network and its fiscal sponsor is Durham Congregations In Action.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, they will be updating their online Durham Food Pantry Directory daily. You can find this link here. 

DUrham Feast, through DPS

A partnership between Durham Public Schools, Durham County Government, the Durham Public Schools Foundation and local nonprofits and restaurants organized as “Durham FEAST,” will launch a new meal support program for children and families starting on Thursday, April 16, 2020. Families coming to school sites across Durham County will receive free children’s breakfasts and lunches prepared by Durham restaurants, while adults will receive shelf-stable food supplies and/or family-style casseroles.

The following schedule is effective April 14, 2020. Sites and schedules will be regularly updated at www.durhamfeast.org/sites.

DUrham Feast, las Escuelas Públicas de Durham

Una colaboración entre las Escuelas Públicas de Durham, el Gobierno del Condado de Durham, la Fundación de Escuelas Públicas de Durham y organizaciones locales sin fines de lucro y restaurantes organizados como "Durham FEAST", lanzará un nuevo programa de apoyo a las comidas para niños/niñas y familias a partir del jueves 16 de abril del 2020. EL CEntro hispano COVID19 Crisis Response Fund

In response to the COVID19 crisis, El Centro Hispano has created the COVID19 Crisis Response Fund to address the needs of community members and families that:

  • Live paycheck to paycheck who have or will lose income due to the closings of places of work;

  • and/or– Have multiple children and will be forced to stay home;

  • and/or– may have people who are likely to get sick with COVID19, adding a substantial burden to families;

  • and/or– Families who may need assistance in meeting their needs during this crisis living in Wake, Orange or Durham County.

Priority will be given to families/applicants who meet the following criteria:

  • Homes with multiple children under the age of 13 or people over the age of 65 in the household,

  • People who have lost all or significant sources of income due to the COVID19 Crisis,

  • Households with people who are sick due to COVID19,

  • Homes currently and actively participating in ongoing programs at El Centro Hispano (like tutoring, support services, groups or CEL

Funds will NOT be given to people directly but will be distributed in the form of goods needed by the household not available in the ECH food pantry.

Funds can be used for materials like, but not limited to:

  • Perishable food (milk, eggs, meat, fruits, and vegetables, etc)

  • Non-perishable foods (canned food, pasta, grain products, etc.)

  • Cleaning materials (soap, surface cleaners, disinfectant spray, paper towels, etc.)

  • Personal hygiene materials (hand sanitizer/soap, toilet tissue, toothpaste, etc.)

  • Over-the-counter medical equipment (thermometers, masks, gloves, electrolyte solutions, etc.)

  • Child/baby products (formula, diapers/wipes, etc.)
