Week 28: Tennis

Tennis is a great sport that you can play safely with friends while practicing social distancing! Many different variations of the game can be played. We highlighted a few of our favorites from BCF below!

Ruler of the Court

1. Ruler of the Court

Designate one side of the court as the ruler side and one as the challenger side. Play out one volley. If the winning team is already on the ruler side, they will stay. If the team from the challenger side wins, they will run over and replace the team on the ruler side.

2. Short Court

Some courts are marked with Pickleball lines that make the court smaller. Feel free to use these lines as you refine your tennis skills!

3. Skills Practice

Take time to practice the small components of tennis, too! Just like you would practice free throws in basketball, you can practice serves, ball control, forehand swings, and backhand swings for tennis!

BCF Playing Tennis at Rock Quarry Park (October 2019)

Many Durham Parks and Recreation sites have tennis courts open to the public! Check them out below.

If you do choose to recreate outside, please make sure to bring a mask and put it on if you are within six feet of other people. Stay safe and have fun!
