Week 8: Gymnastics

We are rolling into our new challenge this week. We are focusing on gymnastics! Gymnastics can be practiced at home. Keep in mind that some moves, like cartwheels and handstands, require more room. Double check that you have enough space before getting started! If you are able to get outside, a nice patch of grass works perfectly as a tumbling spot!


Try out these gymnastic moves!

Candlestick

1. Candlestick

Start by laying on your back, and then push your legs up in the air. Put your hands on your hips to help hold your body up!


2. Log Rolls

These are a fan favorite at BCF! Start by laying down with your arms extended above your head, then roll! Have your family members time you and try to beat your personal record!




Somersault

3. Somersault

Start by placing your hands on either side of your feet. Tuck your chin, and push off with your legs to roll onto your back.



4. Bridge

There are a couple ways to do a bridge. You can press your hips up and keep your shoulders on the ground, do a tabletop by pressing your hips up and going up on your hands, or a full wheel! For wheel, place your hands beside your head with your fingers pointing toward your shoulder then press up to lift your torso off the ground, making a rainbow with your body!


Egg Roll to Pop Up

5. Egg Roll to Pop Up

Start standing, and then roll onto your back, hugging your knees to your chest. Using your momentum, forward and try to pop up into a standing position.


6. Handstand

Place your hands on the ground and kick your feet up!
